Espadrilles - A Classic Wardrobe Staple

Espadrilles have been made in Spain as early as in the 14th century.

Until the mid-1960s, no one had ever put a heel on an espadrille before, then came a designer named Yves Saint Laurent. He came to a company called CastaƱer in Spain and asked them to produce a pair of espadrilles with a high heel. Leave it to a fashion designer to take a peasant class shoe and turn it into luxurious fashion footwear.

Born from that are the Espadrilles of today, now considered a classic wardrobe staple. Go from the beach to the dance floor in style.
